Meeting Location

The meeting will take place in the Masur Auditorium and FAES Terrace (Building 10) on the main campus of the NIH in Bethesda, MD. Detailed information regarding getting to the meeting can be found below. Directions and a campus map indicating the Masur Auditorium and the nearest Metro (subway) stop (Medical Center, on the Red Line) can be found below. Please allow adequate time to get to the NIH main campus and to get through security. You will need to obtain a visitor's badge, so please bring a government-issued photo ID.


Meals

Federal Government regulations prohibit meals being provided at the Symposium. There is a coffee shop located in the main lobby near the North entrance of Building 10. A coffee shop is also located inside the FAES bookstore, directly down the IC corridor behind the Masur Auditorium. Both locations open at 7:00 a.m. Food and beverage can also be purchased from the B1 cafeteria between the hours of 6:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

On Thursday, May 31, you may opt to pre-purchase a box lunch during the registration process, provided by Corner Bakery, for pick up in the foyer of the Masur Auditorium.


Please note that there is no food or drink allowed in the Masur Auditorium.


Internet Access

Free and open WIFI is available on the NIH main campus. SSID "NIH-Guest-Network" is open and in broadcast mode in your available wireless networks.


Security and Transportation Instructions

Masur Auditorium (Building 10) is on the main campus of the NIH. Please review the Visitor Access Map prior to your arrival. Information on the Metro transit system, including fares, schedules, and estimated travel times from other stops, can be found at www.wmata.com.


Access to the NIH Main Campus

The Visitors Center is located at the Medical Center Metro Station entrance on the Red Line www.wmata.com, approximately 50 yards from the street and facing the main entrance to the metro station. Enter at the blue Welcome sign and proceed to your right through security. All persons and bags will be screened. Lines to obtain your visitor's badge will be on the other side of security; please remember to bring a government-issued photo ID. Maps of main campus are available in the Visitor Center.


If you are staying at the Doubletree Hotel there is complimentary shuttle service to/from NIH, please check in with the front desk for exact times. Taxis are also available from the Doubletree Hotel. It will take approximately 5-7 minutes to arrive at the NIH campus.


Driving is strongly discouraged, but limited parking is available on campus for $12/day at the Gateway Entrance visitors parking garage (see visitor parking lot labeled MLP11 in the green box on the Visitor Access Map).


Getting to the Masur Auditorium (Building 10) and the Meeting

Once you obtain your visitor's badge:

From the Gateway Center - To get to Building 10, take the NIH campus shuttle bus marked "CAMPUS" (red line shuttle). Get off at the North Entrance of Building 10. The shuttle bus leaves the Metro station every 15 to 20 minutes, beginning at 6:30 a.m. It is a 6-minute ride to the North Entrance. You may also choose to walk from the Gateway Center, past the bus stops down South Drive. Keep straight and cross over Center Drive. Continue to walk straight up the hill. Building 10 is at the top of the hill on the right, and you may enter through the North or South entrance. It is a 0.5-mile walk, and takes about 11 minutes.

From the North lobby entrance - From the lobby, go down the right side, passing Admissions on your right. Continue straight through the sliding glass doors, following posted signs to the Masur Auditorium. Continue following the “Detour” signs to the Masur Auditorium, just past the main elevators.

From the South lobby entrance - From the lobby, take either the left or right hallway up a slight incline until you come to the entrance of the Masur Auditorium. When the two hallways converge, you are standing in front of Masur Auditorium..

Ground Transportation (from area airports)

Transportation from area airports is available via taxi service. Approximate one-way taxi fares during non-rush hours are as follows:

From Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA): $65 (Washington, DC area subway system, METRO is also available at this airport. Information on the Metro transit system, including fares, schedules, and estimated travel times from other stops, can be found at www.wmata.com.)
From Baltimore/Washington International Airport (BWI): $90
From Dulles International Airport (IAD): $70
